With its decision of 4 June 2020, the Swiss Competition Commission (COMCO) concluded its investigation against the two energy supply companies ewl Energie Wasser Luzern Holding AG (ewl) and Erdgas Zentralschweiz AG (EGZ). The COMCO qualified their refusal of transmission of natural gas to certain customers as an illegal abuse of a dominant market position within the meaning of Art. 7 of the Swiss Cartel Act (CartA). Due to good cooperation in the proceedings and the conclusion of an amicable settlement, a reduced fine of approximately CHF 2.6 million was imposed.
